Jorinna Tran, LCPC, NCC

Licensed Psychotherapist

About Me:

I have been working with children, adolescents and their families for the last 20 years. As an employee of Montgomery County Public Schools since 2003, I have worked in multiple school settings including as a classroom teacher and as a school counselor. My work in schools has given me experience with a variety of struggles that children, adolescents and families face. I specialize in working with children and adolescents struggling with anxiety, depression, school adjustment and trauma. I also have extensive experience helping people manage ADHD.  Additionally, I work with college students, couples and adults, helping them navigate life's transitions, anxiety, and depression. Additionally, I help parents, providing parent eduction and specific stratgies to help the family communicate with ease. I graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Masters degree in Counseling, then continued my postgraduate studies and became a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) in 2011. I am also a Maryland Board of Professional Counselor and a Therapists Board-Approved LCPC supervisor.

It is my goal to help people work through the challenges that life presents. When working together, we will discuss a number of factors impacting the well-being of my clients, from physical demands to emotional burdens and challenging decisions you may face. As we begin our time together, we will use CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) to create goals and work in a collaborative and client focused approach to help you find the coping strategies to feel successful in your own life. I am happy to work with both children, parents individually and together to help support all members of the family.  When a client believes and puts work into the counseling process, you will find the healing and peace that you desire.

Each one of us is unique in the experiences we have had and the challenges we face. Learning about you and the events that have shaped and impacted your life will help me identify your needs and areas of growth as we work together. I employ a solution-focused, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and person-centered approach in my work with clients.  I believe in providing a peaceful and respectful space for my clients to feel safe, seen and heard. Making the decision to meet with me is the first step in your healing process. I look forward to working alongside you in this journey.
